2025/12/5　Prof. Chihaya Adachi (our Plenary speaker) has won the Leo Esaki Prize (NanoTechnology) for novel OLED development by double hetero structures.  

The selection committee is composed of 5 Nobel laureates from Japan.  L.Esaki was working for Sony Tokyo, where he invented the Esaki diode based on the quantum tunneling effect, for which he won the Nobel Prize Physics in 1973.  He is also an alumni of the 3rd Imperial High School in Kyoto (formerly, now College of ILAS of Kyoto Univ.).
